I’ve always had a passion for using reclaimed materials; something mysterious lurking within my DNA that I inherited from my paternal grandmother. I was always in awe of her ability to find a reuse for anything – I don’t think I’ve seen, since or before, anyone hang their pictures with wooden clothes pegs. Genius idea! I used to wander through her tiny Victorian terrace house in the East End of London, marveling at her ingenuity in giving items a second chance.
And so it was that Serendipity Reclamation began life in early 2010 from inside an old cow barn in the rolling Hertfordshire hills. Initially a shop and reclamation yard selling all manner of weird and wonderful vintage and architectural salvage items, it was the design and manufacture of bespoke timber furniture that really got my pulse racing!
I discovered early on that customers also shared my love of reclaimed timber, and a desire to stay true to my core values of sustainability. So we now concentrate on both reclaimed timber furniture and new timber from sustainable forestry projects, off the peg and bespoke, from our workshop using traditional techniques to make furniture that has quality and beauty stamped all over it.
We never mass produce, but are committed to a more bespoke service so that our clients receive a treasured piece they will love and their friends will covet.
We’d love to hear from you to discuss your next project.
